Upwey a hidden paradise and the iconic Puffing Billy

One of my favourite train trips in Australia.

Upwey is a suburb around 32 kilometres east of central Melbourne. It is near the Dandenong Ranges National Park which has some lovely walking tracks.

Upwey is a town that few tourists visit unless to see family or friends. I lived there for several months and have returned to visit itmany times over the last 20 odd years. My friends Terry and Kat live close by to the Upwey railway station which many people going up to do the Puffing Billy railway trip would have passed through unknowingly on their way to Belgrave. Belgrave is the final train stop and it is short walk to the Puffing Billy railway. There are many attractions in the Dandedongs and around Upwey with its parks and beautiful scenery.

In Upwey there is also the Burrinja Cultural Centre which is well worth a visit. Below is the website link for information…
